Pokémon Nicknames: Kecleon

Kecleon (in Japanese: カクレオン  “Kakureon”) is a chameleon.  It is a NORMAL type Pokémon, but it may have one of two interesting abilities. The “Color Change” ability makes it change its type to the last damaging move that hit it. Also, the “Protean” ability changes Kecleon’s type according to the move that it is about to use, so that it becomes a (pure) Pokémon of that type.

Kecleon does not evolve.

I named a male Kecleon “Zelig” after the Woody Allen “mockumentary” film of the same name.

The film was about a man who was able to change himself physically to suit whichever social group he found himself within.  Mr. Zelig was always able to conform to any group, – thus he was a “human chameleon”.  Here is a clip:

The movie was made back when the great comedic director was actually interested in making unique and amusing films … but I digress…

I named another Kecleon “Roy G. Biv” after the color spectrum: Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Indigo-Violet.  Please groove to the “They Might Be Giants” song of the same name here:

I have named female Kecleon “Camry” after the Toyota automobile. “Cami” might be cute … I mean the name not the the type of women’s clothing (aka camisole) .  You …

Pokémon Nicknames: Bonsly and Sudowoodo

Despite its appearance, Sudowoodo is a Rock type Pokemon.  Sudowoodo combines the words “pseudo” meaning “false” and “wood”.  Thus, the Pokemon is based on petrified wood — trees which have become fossilized over time.

I named a male Sudowoodo after “WoodyAllen”.  The filmmaker was a comic genius — but he is also very immoral.  I do not find the rock-hard Pokemon to be as disturbing as Mr. Allen however —  I nicknamed it thinking of Woody’s “earlier, funnier films”.  

“Rock type? Well let me explain to you how my wood gets hard.”

I also named a female Sudowoodo “Twiggy” after the famous 1960s fashion model of the same name.

I think that “Twiggy” would also be a good name for Sudowoodo’s pre-evolved form: Bonsly the “bonsai” Pokemon. As Brock can demonstrate,  Sudowoodo is called Usokkie ウソッキー , and Bonsly is called Usohachi ウソハチ in the Japanese game.

Oh goody, Here’s Woody!

You know what would be a HOOT?  Nickname a Bonsly “Soon-Yi” then put it in your team with your “WoodyAllen” Sudowoodo.  Ha Ha.  No.

That man is immoral.
